Simple HPLC-PDA Analysis to Determine Illegal Synthetic Dyes in Herbal Medicines

Various synthetic dyes are artificially added to herbal medicines for the purpose of visual attraction. In order monitor illegal usage in medication, a rapid and straightforward analysis method determine is required. The study aimed develop validate high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) ten Hawthorn fruit, Cornus Schisandra fruit. Ten such as Tartrazine, Sunset yellow, Metanil Auramine O, Amaranth, Orange II, Acid red 73, New Coccine, Azorubine, Erythrosine B, were extracted using 50 mM ammonium acetate 70% MeOH; then separated by gradient elution with mobile phase consisting acetonitrile distilled water photodiode array detector (PDA) at 428 nm or 500 nm. addition, this established LC-MS/MS confirm existence positive sample solution. HPLC had good linearity (r2 > 0.999). recoveries ranged from 74.6~132.1%, relative standard deviation (RSD) values less than 6.9%. Most samples fulfilled acceptance criteria AOAC guideline. This demonstrates that can be applied medication.
